Murderers Row

The term “Murderers Row” is forever linked to the New York Yankees, but El Reno High School’s baseball team completed its own version of the phrase last week with back-to-back losses to Carl Albert.

The 6-0 and 15-0 shutouts dropped El Reno to 0-8 in the District 5A-2 standings as the Indians, now 5-13 overall, played the top four teams in the league right off the bat.

Keith Hill’s program was slated to play in the Carl Albert tournament this weekend.

Tying its season-low round of the season, El Reno High School’s boys golf team finished in the middle of the pack at its own 2023 EHS Invitational hosted at Crimson Creek Golf Course.

El Reno carded a team score of 381 to place eighth in the 16-team field. The Indians junior varsity team posted a round of 491 to take 14th place.

“We played OK. We are getting better and Cooper (Park) is taking a leadership role and trying to get us to state. That’s our goal,” said El Reno head coach Marc Peters.

Getting a feel for the course in which it will play the Class 5A West Regional Championship later this month, El Reno High School’s girls golf team posted another top five finish.

Playing the Aqua Canyon Course at Cimarron National Golf Club, El Reno carded a 415 total to place third in the 2023 Griffin Golf Classic.

“Still short of our best round by eight shots, but by far our best round with everyone shooting in triple digits,” said El Reno head coach Cameron Wilkins.
