Freshman Ethan Brooks earned his first double-gold of the season as El Reno High School’s boys track team took fifth place at the 2025 Elk City Classic.

Brooks earned 20 of the team’s 46 points by winning both the mile and two-mile runs. In the mile he posted a time of four minutes and 45.48 seconds to win by 23 seconds over Bethany’s Arthur Calderon and 25 seconds over his teammate Jagger Weaver.

His two-mile time of 9:47.69 won by 28 seconds over Woodward’s Dathan Custar and by over a minute and a half quicker than North Rock Creek’s Kypton Battershell.

Setting up a showdown with Carl Albert for second place in the District 5A-2 standings, El Reno High School’s girls soccer team logged its second mercy-rule victory of the season in a 10-0 shutout of Del City.

El Reno moved to 7-5 on the season and 5-1 in the league standings, tied with the Titans for second place behind Bishop McGuinness.

However, Carl Albert currently holds a 19-13 edge over the Indians in the tiebreaker points.

Overcoming 13 offside penalties, El Reno High School’s boys soccer team took over sole possession of sixth place in the District 5A-2 standings with a season-high goal count in a 6-1 win over Del City.

El Reno moved to 5-7 on the season and 2-4 in league play with the five-goal victory – its largest winning margin of the season.

The Indians were flagged offside six times in the first half but never trailed, getting a goal by Vicente Saldana Barboza (28:29) off the rebound of a blocked shot by Diego Reyes.

While the score was not the best of the season, El Reno High School’s girls golf team got the end result it was seeking – a spot in the 2025 Class 5A Girls State Golf Championships.

Playing in the 5A regional at Oak Hills Golf and Country Club in Ada, El Reno carded a 383 to place fourth and punched a ticket to state.

The top six teams in the two regionals move on to the championship to be played May 5-6 at Lincoln Park in Oklahoma City.

El Reno High School’s boys golf team now knows the score range it will need to shoot in order to make state following a seventh-place finish at the 2025 Class 5A Boys Preview.

The Indians, ranked 16th in the state, carded a 330 on the Meadowlake Golf Course layout in Enid, site of the upcoming 36-hole regional tournament.

Tulsa Bishop Kelley won the event with a 296, followed by two Carl Albert squads (300/310).

Classen SAS (311), Guthrie (314) and Newcastle (318) finished ahead of El Reno.

CALUMET – Twelve hits over two games was enough offense to carry Calumet High School’s baseball team to its fifth straight spring district title and a step closer to the state tourney.

Calumet, ranked second in the state, won the Class B, District 2 Championship by sweeping the Waynoka Railroaders by scores of 9-0 and 12-0 to improve to 13-7-1 on the season.

OKARCHE – Ava Meier hit a walk-off double to score Harper White as Okarche High School’s slow-pitch softball team completed a sweep of the Canadian County small schools with a 5-4 win over Calumet.

Okarche, ranked No.17 in Class 3A, moved to 13-8 on the year, while Calumet slipped to 8-10.

The Chieftains tied the game in the top of the seventh when Randy Upchego doubled and scored on a groundout by Jacks Bates.

Redlands Community College’s baseball team went into a four-game series with Murray State with a chance of making the field for the NJCAA Region 2, Division 2 Championships.

The Cougars are 26-24 on the season and 5-15 in the regional standings after splitting a series with Carl Albert and beating Western Oklahoma (21-11). Redlands’ wins over the Vikings were by scores of 14-10 and 9-7 and the losses were 6-3 and 5-2.

Redlands went 57-of-164 (.348) from the plate with 11 doubles.
