El Reno mayor says Halliburton property expected to be sold

Body

The Halliburton property where more than 800 people worked before the energy giant announced it was closing its El Reno operation is expected to be sold.

Mayor Matt White told an El Reno Now audience the state Department of Commerce has indicated there is “a line” of potential buyers for the property.

Halliburton announced it was closing the campus on East SH 66 earlier this month. The energy giant said it was moving the operations back to Duncan where it had relocated from about five years ago.

Piedmont holds off feverish rally in final four minutes to edge El Reno boys 61-57

PIEDMONT – During the first and final four minutes of last week’s game with No.8 Piedmont, El Reno High School’s boys basketball team was literally unstoppable - outscoring the eighth-ranked Wildcats 26-8 in their top 10 showdown.

However, hiccups on both ends of the floor over the other 24 minutes left Class 5A’s ninth-ranked Indians struggling to gain their footing. Put the minutes together and the Wildcats clawed out a narrow 61-57 win over El Reno.

PIEDMONT – On the defensive side of the floor, Class 5A’s fourth-ranked El Reno High School’s girls basketball team held Piedmont to its third lowest scoring total of the season.

The only problem - the top-ranked Wildcats did the same to the Indians.

El Reno was held to a season-low 36 points in a 51-36 setback to the defending 5A state champions.
