Protect yourself from the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

Body

Residents and family members should protect themselves and their families from encountering COVID-19.

That means understanding what COVID-19 is, how it is spread and why it is dangerous.

Practicing the social distancing rules during this outbreak, which is staying 6 feet apart from another person, and wearing a mask and gloves are ways to prevent encountering the COVID-19 virus.

COVID-19 can include a sudden onset of a high fever, bodily aches and pains, sore throat/dry cough, shortness of breath and feeling fatigued.

Snow falls on county to prove the old gardening rule

Body

A certain weatherman, who shall remain nameless, reported a light frost early Monday morning in the western part of the state and further predicted snow Monday night.

Sunday morning was lovely but quite suddenly in the early afternoon, a fierce north wind blew in with a vengeance, sending us scurrying to collect blooming iris, honeysuckle, late daffodils and lilacs lest they be lost.

They are comfortably residing in a vase while the outside brick walkway is littered with tiny honeysuckle blooms.

Partnership creates COVID-19 diagnostic lab at Oklahoma State

Body

STILLWATER  —  An innovative collaboration between two campuses at Oklahoma State University is allowing the institution to play a key role in the state’s fight against COVID-19.

As university leaders considered how to best use its resources to serve the state, a partnership between the main Stillwater campus and OSU Medicine in Tulsa emerged. FDA-approved machines to run the test analysis for COVID-19 were identified at a lab on the Stillwater campus – which would address the state’s limited testing capacity.

CV Tech moving classes to online format through May

Body

It is unlikely Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein had social distancing in mind when they penned the stanza of the adopted state song referring to sitting alone, talking and bird watching.

Just as unlikely is the notion that students statewide were shouting “Yippee ki yay" as they returned to classes on Monday, albeit in an online, distance-learning environment.
