GIRL - Paige and Micah Green of Binger are parents of a girl, Jade Elizabeth, born July 24 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Jade weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 20.75 inches in length.

Maternal grandparents are Kim Warren and the late David Warren. Great-grandparents are Diane and Richard Birdsong and Sandra and Paul Warren.

Paternal grandparents are Becky and Don Green. Great-grandparents are William and Sue Green.

Pastor honored for 55th ordination anniversary

Former El Reno Pastor Earl Philipp was expecting to quietly reflect on the 55th anniversary of his ordination as a minister on July 5, but he was surprised by what happened.

A procession of 19 cars paraded past his home, located between Mustang and Yukon, honoring the man they fondly referred to as “Pastor Earl.”

Philipp was ordained July 4, 1965, in Olney, Texas.

He is retired now, but he is still a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mustang.

Goucher joins list of El Reno All-Staters

Body

Growing up as a football ball boy, Rafe Goucher watched many talented El Reno High School athletes earn the highest honor handed out to prep players in Oklahoma – All-State laurels.

It drove him to become one of the program’s better two-way linemen in school history and eventually earn him the chance to don the coveted blue and yellow jacket reserved for those selected as All-Staters by the Oklahoma Coaches Association.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and what one owner calls “Hollywood greed,” El Reno’s Reno Cinema 8 may have shown its last movie.

Closed since March due to the coronavirus, Curtis Blanc said the six-screen theater is going on the market.

Blanc is one of three partners in El Reno Cinema LLC, which owns Reno Cinema 8. B&B Theaters and Ruthy Mittelstaedt are the other partners in the company.

Taking to the skies?

The City of El Reno and the Airpark Authority are producing a video to help promote the upcoming Fly El Reno event. The community event will highlight improvements made at El Reno Regional Airport and plans for a new $1.3 million terminal.

The video will be promoted on social media before the Aug. 22 El Reno Fly-In. The day will feature a Warbird Flyover, food trucks, classic cars and tours of the A-26 Lady Liberty.

RCC to begin mask policy for students, staff

Body

Redlands Community College classes will start Aug. 17, and beginning this week all individuals on campus will be required to wear a face covering.

“We have established guidelines for the use of face coverings for the health and safety of everyone on campus,” said Redlands President Jack Bryant.

“These are very challenging times, and we are implementing these procedures so we can provide services and on-site classes as safely as possible in this situation.”

Acceptable coverings include reusable cloth masks, disposable paper masks and face shields.
