Getting his kicks on Route 60-6

No matter what level of play, every defender has that dream of recovering a football and running it into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.

El Reno senior Layton Hockersmith is no different.

“I like being around the football for sure. I want to score and I’ve been looking for that scoop-and-score touchdown. I still haven’t found it yet but I hope to get one before my time is done,” said Hockersmith.

Handling with kid gloves

Body

After seven games, El Reno High School’s football team has a legitimate shot at winning a district title for the first time since 2009, so the Indians are treating each of the final three games of the regular season with kid gloves.

Even the ones expected to be a blowout on paper.

El Reno goes under the lights of Taft Stadium Friday night to play a Southeast team which is struggling through a six-game losing streak and yet to find a win in four District 5A-1 games.
