El Reno High School’s volleyball team snapped a two-match losing streak and closed out the regular season with a 3-1 road win over Hennessey.

The 28-26/22-25/25-18/25-5 win over the Class 3A Eagles left El Reno with a 5-15 overall record heading into Monday’s Class 5A regional playoffs.

The Indians will be headed to Sapulpa for the one-day postseason event with the winner punching a ticket to state.

El Reno is one of 21 teams in Class 5A headed east for regional play after seven of the eight hosting sites went to east-side schools. Those were set based off rankings.

The win over Hennessey came on the heels of back-to-back losses to Class 4A state-ranked schools. El Reno fell 3-0 to Cache, ranked ninth, by scores of 25-14/25-12/25-11.

That loss was followed by a home setback to No.14 Weatherford (3-0) by scores of 25-15/25-19/25-19.

Anessa Woods led the El Reno offense over the three-match stretch with 16 kills, followed by Qyra Jones with 12 and 11 from Jewell Graham.

Lily Elliott led those in single digits with nine kills, while Mary Gonzalez added eight and Trinity Black with seven kills.

Kallie Maifield chipped in five kills and Emercyn Looper with two kills.

Looper led all setters with 28 assists, followed by Daily Maples with 24 and five from Gonzalez.

Elliott led the back-line scoring with 12 aces, while Looper added six. Ava Felton and Graham followed with four each and Jones with two aces.

El Reno had nine total blocks, paced by Gonzalez with three and two apiece from Graham and Maifield. Looper logged a team-high 44 digs, while Bri Barksdale added 35 and Felton with 29. Maples was next with 17 digs, followed by Makenna Curtis with 16, Gonzalez with 14 and 12 digs each from Jones and Elliott.
