El Reno High School catcher Austin Steffler said it best when describing senior right-hander Jonathan Shelley’s first varsity start of the season.
“Jonathan’s fast ball is moving,” said Steffler.
Shelley, who missed two-thirds of the season with a hamstring injury, pitched five innings of three-hit baseball as the Indians snapped a six-game losing streak with a 9-1 run-rule of Putnam City.
Shelley allowed one run and a walk, while fanning six batters. He retired the first eight batters in order, allowed the free pass, then retired four of the next five batters faced.
