Letters to Santa - December 14

Body

Dear Santa,
I have tried to be really good this year. This year I would like a fart blaster, a cool RC car, things for my Pup Pup and a real monster truck. Milk and cookies are by the tree.
Love, Anakin Reed

Being ready at a moment’s notice has always been a moniker of the different branches of the U.S. military.

No matter if that notice is for an extended deployment or just one single engagement, or in the case of Collin Matteson, a single play.

The son of former El Reno High School standout golfer John Matteson and grandson of local resident Carmen Matteson, Collin is currently a junior at the United States Military Academy West Point.

Injuries pin down El Reno in tough match with ’Cats

Body

Missing six starters, five of those with injuries, put El Reno High School’s boys wrestling team in a bind during its season-opening 53-21 loss to Piedmont.

The Wildcats, ranked sixth in Class 6A, defeated El Reno for a second straight year as the 14th-ranked Indians (5A) won only four matches in the duel, three of those on the mat.

“It was a tough opener and we are missing six starters, but we wrestled pretty hard. There are some things we need to clean up and we will be all right. We rolled out there with what we had and we did our best.

City, C&A Tribes cut ribbon on Fitness Court

Body

The first workout for the new Fitness Court at Adams Park was surviving the ribbon-cutting ceremony held last week. Reggie Wassana said the Thursday ceremony was no doubt “held on the coldest day of the year.” A north wind brought with it a wind chill in the lower 20s.

Fortunately for many in the audience, the ceremony came with commemorative stocking caps, scarves and gloves.
