The El Reno Tribune was named the top Oklahoma newspaper in its division for 2023 during the annual Oklahoma Press Association convention. The gathering was held in Oklahoma City earlier this month.
The Tribune competed in the Semi and Tri-Weekly Division and earned 530 points. Points were totaled from a number of categories including News Content, Layout and Design, Advertising, Photography, Community Leadership and Writing.
An Oklahoma City woman is in the Canadian County Jail accused of driving drunk and killing a man on an El Reno public street.
Brooke Alexis Mills, 36, was charged June 6 in Canadian County District Court with second-degree murder and/or, in the alternative, first-degree manslaughter and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
This criminal case stems from Mills’ arrest by El Reno police June 1 in the 1600 block of Eighty Niner Terrace west of Country Club Road.

Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at Mount Zion Global Methodist Church.
Carol Stine opened the meeting, with Jan Maddox reading a devotional titled “Fear.”
Maxine Little read minutes from the previous meeting, while Patricia Morrison gave the treasury report.
Stine gave a report on the executive meeting she had attended.
Donations will be made to 4-H Round-Up in July and the 4-H Achievement Banquet.
Donna Wehmuller presented the leader lesson on “Savory Pies.”

Robert Douglas “Doug” Revel went to be the Lord on June 16, 2024. He was born Oct. 20, 1960, in Chickasha to Robert and Sue Revel.
Doug attended El Reno High School where he met the love of his life, Lori Hauenstein.
Doug and Lori were married May 2, 1980. They had two children, K’Leigh and J.T.
Doug worked alongside his dad at the family business, M & W Auto Supply.
He later went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as an airplane mechanic.
He retired from Tinker in October 2022.
