Republicans agree to budget framework

Oklahoma’s Republican legislative leaders agreed last week to a budget framework that will result in approximately $12.5 billion in spending in fiscal year 2025, which starts July 1.

Lawmakers will consider budget bills in the next few days, as staff work late hours to finalize the language and numbers. The session ends May 31.

If Lauren Handy was an environmental activist or a leftist supporting Hamas, her sit-in at an abortion business would have earned her a misdemeanor charge and maybe a small fine. But because she is a pro-life advocate protesting abortion, the Biden administration used the FACE Act to prosecute her for supposedly blocking access to abortion.

Redlands plays consistent; misses top ten at nationals

Despite putting together four consistent rounds, Redlands Community College was unable to crack the top ten at the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Women's National Golf Championships.

Navigating the Gold Course at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida, Redlands placed 11th out of 15 teams with a 72-hole total of 1,302 – which was 134 strokes over par for the event.

C&A Tribes hold annual MMIP event

With photos clutched in their hands and signs hanging on vehicles, families and friends of missing and murdered loved ones gathered to remember and honor their loved ones.

The Fourth Annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) awareness event and parade was held earlier this month at Concho.

The annual event, hosted by the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes MMIP Chapter, brings a spotlight on the tribal citizens who have either gone missing or have been murdered, some with cases still unsolved.

Trio seeks District 2 commish seat from retiring Anderson

An interesting race is developing as three candidates – two of them current Canadian County employees - look to succeed a retiring county commissioner.

Laramie Bryant, Josh Davis and Lacey Dawson want to replace longtime District 2 Commissioner David Anderson of Mustang. Both Davis and Dawson work for Canadian County.

Anderson is leaving office in December after deciding not to seek a fifth, four year-term.
