OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma House committee last week advanced legislation that would create a rebate program for companies that refine, manufacture or process hydrogen in small municipalities.

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce praised the progress on the Convergence development project in Oklahoma City. The project is described as “an innovative office and research complex located in the heart of Oklahoma City’s Innovation District.”

Memorial services for Shaun Paul Abatti of El Reno will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at Lake El Reno. Shaun passed away April 17, 2024, at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital in Shawnee. He was born April 26, 1980, in Riviera, Ariz.

Keeping up the pressure on Guthrie for third place, El Reno High School’s baseball team swept two games from U.S Grant last week at the Hub Reed Complex. El Reno defeated the Generals 21-0 in the first game after scoring 12 runs in the bottom of the second inning with one out.

Despite a hard-fought battle, El Reno High School’s boys soccer team closed out District 5A-2 play with a 2-0 home loss to Carl Albert. The loss dropped El Reno to 1-6 in league play as the Indians finished in seventh place. The win boosted Carl Albert into third place in the standings.

A loss of the pre-match coin flip ended up costing El Reno High School’s girls soccer team strategically in its battle with Carl Albert for the District 5A-2 title. Carl Albert won the toss and took the wind, netting two first-half goals.

El Reno High School’s girls golf team logged its second straight top five finish with yet another sub-400 round. The Indians carded a 385 in the Pryor Invitational to edge out Dewey by a stroke for the top five and 12 over Collinsville.

Numbers continue to drop for El Reno High School’s boys golf team as the Indians took fourth place at the 2024 Marlow Invitational played at the Generations Golf Club. El Reno carded a 325 total to edge out Duncan’s junior varsity by a stroke and Velma-Alma by eight shots in the 18-team field.

El Reno is going to grow. And that means it’s going to need more water. The results of a study of El Reno’s water well field infrastructure were presented at the April city council meeting.
