Graveside services for Dwayne Charles Oaks of Minco were held Thursday at the Hazel Dell Cemetery, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home. Dwayne passed away March 5, 2023, at his home. He was born March 15, 1937, in Cogar and was raised in the Cogar community.

An Oklahoma City attorney was arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from a person he believed to be a 5-year-old girl.

Funeral service for Teddy Posey was held Friday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the El Reno Cemetery.     Mr. Posey, 83, passed away March 6, 2023.

NORMAN – A series of turnovers to start the first and third periods proved too big of a hurdle for El Reno to overcome in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Class 5A Boys Oklahoma State High School Basketball Championships.

Two bad innings turned out to be the stumbling blocks for El Reno High School’s baseball team in its first District 5A-1 doubleheader of the season. Bishop McGuinness scored nine of its 11 runs for the series in those two frames as the Irish swept the doubleheader behind scores of 4-1 and 7-2.

El Reno resident Betty Jean Wahweah passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at her home, at the age of 68. Betty, the daughter of Jimmie and Nancy Mae (Deere) Carbitcher, was born Nov. 26, 1954, in Wewoka.

Dasie Hufnagel Weisenburger passed away peacefully March 4, 2023. Dasie was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Calumet to Russell and Alice (Gill) LeFever. She grew up in Calumet and attended Calumet High School where she played basketball and softball. Dasie graduated in 1948 as valedictorian of her class.

Barbara Ann (Johns) Langley was born July 14, 1946, in Bethany, Mo., to Melvin and Nettie Jo Johns. She passed away peacefully March 6, 2023, surrounded by her family in Thomas, Okla. Barbara graduated from El Reno High School in 1964.

Janice Ellis, 81, of El Reno passed away March 4, 2023, in Oklahoma City. Cremation was under the care of Wilson Funeral Home.
