Miscues put EHS in hole early at Elgin

ELGIN – Two special teams errors and a sluggish start on offense coming out of bye week proved costly for El Reno High School’s football team in its District 5A-1 opener.

Elgin turned both first-period miscues into scoring drives and added a third touchdown in the opening stanza as all three possessions started at midfield or inside El Reno territory.

The Owls rode the 21-point first period to a 47-8 win over El Reno, which slipped to 0-4 on the season.
