The deadline to request absentee ballots by mail is approaching. Applications must be received by the Canadian County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. Monday, June 13. County election board secretary Wanda Armold said absentee voting is available to all voters and can be submitted several ways.

Weavers Guild OKC will be conducting a special hands-on demonstration during the Canadian Valley Art Guild’s monthly meeting set for 7 p.m. June 9 at Yukon’s First United Methodist Church. Visitors are welcome to attend.

Graveside services for Marilyn Kay Corn of El Reno will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2022, at the El Reno Cemetery.

Graveside services for Joe Bert Truby of El Reno were held Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Granite City Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home. Joe passed away May 19, 2022, in El Reno. He was born March 17, 1953, to Lila Lou and James Truby in Oklahoma City.

Lamplighters OHCE met recently at a local church with Joan Herr calling the meeting to order and offering prayer. Carol Stine led the flag salute and gave a devotional titled “Strength for the Weary.”

Gladys Rae (Horn) Alexander, 94, passed away May 28, 2022, in El Reno. She was born Nov. 10, 1927, to Joe and Bertha (Smith) Horn in Minco. Gladys attended and graduated from Minco Public School.

Funeral services for Joyce Aileen Wood of El Reno were held Friday, June 3, 2022, at Highland Baptist Church, with a private family burial at the El Reno Cemetery. Joyce was born Nov. 5, 1943, in Chickasha to Jewell and John Stubblefield.

Memorial services for Betty June Selvidge were held Monday, May 30, 2022, at Church of Christ in Hinton with Jimie-Wray Mead and James Cudd officiating. Services were entrusted to Turner Funeral Home, Hinton.

WASHINGTON – As gas prices in Oklahoma soared to record highs this week, Oklahoma’s junior senator joined fellow Republican senators challenging the White House for its response to the energy crisis. Average prices jumped above $4 for the first time in this energy-rich state.
