Arrogant media figures seem to have daddy issues with fatherhood

Body

No good deed goes unpunished. Last month, former NFL head coach Tony Dungy was among the attendees at a bill-signing ceremony in Florida for new legislation supporting fatherhood.

The bipartisan Responsible Fatherhood Initiative will set aside more than $70 million to help struggling Sunshine State fathers play a greater role in the lives of their children.

El Reno trio get a measure of revenge

Body

MUSTANG – For 84 days, El Reno High School girls basketball coach Jennifer Douglas stewed over a four-point loss to McAlester in the Class 5A state championship game.

Sharing in that pain were two of her star guards, Ashlyn Evans-Thompson and Tetona Blackowl.

“It’s taken awhile to get over that pain,” said Evans-Thompson.

Blackowl agreed.

“It’s been hard and I’m not sure I’m really over it yet. I learned a lot from that game and I feel like I may never really ever get over it but I did learn from it,” said Blackowl.

Body

Tyler Tignor’s final game as a head coach, at least for now, was a memorable one for sure.

Coaching the West squad in the 2022 Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association’s All-State Small School Game, Tignor’s farewell effort ended in a 7-all tie after the East rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The game was played at David Allen Ballpark in Enid.

El Reno may consider building fiber network

Body

El Reno elected leaders will likely decide in the coming months whether the city should invest in building its own fiber network.

And with an expected infusion of federal funds, the time to act is probably now or never.

That was the message presented to the city council as well as municipal department heads and staff last week during a workshop. The gathering was held at the newly renovated Northwest Community Center.

Tim Young, assistant city manager, was successful in building a city-owned fiber network during his time serving as city manager in Tuttle.
