CALUMET – In what looked to be a battle of freshman post players, it was a guard who ended up coming up with the clutch shot of the game as Hammon defeated Calumet High Schoolvs girls basketball team 40-39.

Warriors guard Maley Chaney made the first of two free-throw attempts with 2.3 seconds left to give Hammon the one-point advantage.

Chaney missed the second attempt, which was collected by Calumet post player Lilly Thomas, who took two dribbles before launching a last-ditch 3-point shot at the buzzer that hit off the front of the rim.
