City's ambulance service says it is ready to deal with coronavirus calls

The ambulance service for El Reno and the area says it’s prepared to deal with COVID-19.

Pafford EMS issued a statement last week to ensure the public of its commitment to maintain its “award-winning service.”

Pafford is “nationally known for our disaster response capabilities and as such, stands ready to respond,” the statement said.

El Reno Public Schools first day of food distribution during the COVID-19 outbreak was a success, said Public Outreach Director Brooke Robertson. Between its four school sites and the stops made by the mobile van, some 400 meals were passed out to anyone ages 18 and under.

“The breakdown was pretty even between the mobile van and our school sites,” said Robertson.

City makes operational changes to limit access

The city of El Reno will make changes to public accessibility of city buildings and city operating procedures.

As of last Friday, there were no confirmed cases in El Reno but that is expected to change.

The city of El Reno will follow the CDC guidelines and directions from Gov. Stitt regarding the shutdown of restaurants, bars, etc.

It is recommended people maintain 6-feet social distancing and limit 10 or less people in any area at one time.

MaryAnn Charolette Benoit Stout of Yukon passed from this life on March 22, 2020, at the age of 86. She was born July 25, 1933, in Tracadie, Nova Scotia, Canada. She worked for 30 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and scrub tech at Bethany General Hospital. She continued her medical career with Dr. Parkhurst and then the Yukon Mercy Clinic.

MaryAnn loved the country life, spending time with family and holding hands with her beloved husband, Jim Stout. An avid quilter, she also loved to bake, with her specialty being banana nut bread.

Minnie Davis

Graveside services for Minnie Lea Davis of Minco were held Monday in the Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Minnie died March 18, 2020, at her home in Minco. She was born May 23, 1931, in Minco and was raised in the Minco community.

Minnie worked at the Super Café in Minco as well as in wheat harvesting for many years. She retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a plating unit supervisor. Minnie was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Lindalee Catherine “Linda” Payton was born Jan. 4, 1943, in El Reno to Harold Glenn and La Verna Isabele Heaston Elkins. She died in Oklahoma City on March 22, 2020.

Linda had a heart of compassion and would always look out for the needs of others. Although Linda and her family had moved around for a period following her husband’s career, El Reno was home and she was happy to be here. Her friends and family were her world.

She had been a member of El Reno First Baptist Church for many years as it was at a revival in the old downtown church where she accepted Christ.

Graveside services for Betty Lou Gore of Minco were held Monday in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle. Services were under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Betty died March 18, 2020, at the Deaconess Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Tuttle and was raised in the Tuttle community. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Tuttle.

Graveside services for Marsha Gail (Blair) Wagnon of Afton were held March 19, 2020, in the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay. Services were under the direction of Boydston-Wilbourn Funeral Home.

Marsha passed away March 13, 2020, in Afton. She was born Aug. 9, 1952, in Elk City. She married Brock Wagnon on June 28, 1974, in El Reno. Marsha had an associate degree in accounting and had worked in the banking industry. She was also a dog groomer.

Herbert L. Atkins

Private family services for Herbert L. Atkins will be held March 27, 2020. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Atkins passed away March 14, 2020, in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 6, 1947, in Oklahoma City. Herb was a member of VFW Post 382.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. He owned Herby’s BBQ in El Reno for many years until he retired in 2010. After retiring he enjoyed lake life, fishing, riding motorcycles, off-roading with his buddies and playing cards.
