It’s time to shine, El Reno.
For the second year in a row, First Baptist Church and El Reno Public Schools will be hosting the Night to Shine prom event, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. The popular football star philanthropist started the program in 2015 as a way to bring joy to special needs children.
Night to Shine is a full-blown prom, complete with tiaras, a dance floor, prom clothes and more. It is currently being celebrated by 655 churches in 50 states and 24 countries with 100,000 honored guests.
Services for Frank Warren Waller Jr. will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the El Reno Cemetery Pavilion under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
A visitation with the family present will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Frank died Dec. 8, 2019, at his home in El Reno. He was born July 9, 1939, in Fort Worth, Texas.
A longtime resident of El Reno, he had a number of occupations including owning El Reno Motors. He was an advocate for the Boy Scouts of America and thoroughly enjoyed his involvement.
Funeral services for Michelle Leigh (Atkins) Ramey will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Highland Methodist Church at Fort Cobb Lake.
Michelle passed away Nov. 26, 2019, in Oklahoma City. She was born Sept. 21, 1970, in Oklahoma City. Michelle was retired from El Reno Public Schools. She was looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild, a girl who will be born soon. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Betty Jo (Lewis) Perkins was born March 14, 1931, in El Reno to Josephus Lewis and Hallie James. She peacefully departed this life on earth at her home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 30, 2019. Her stepfather, Thomas Barfield stepped up to care for and raise her.
Betty attended Booker T. Washington School. Betty was employed by Western Electric (later became AT&T) where she worked until her retirement.
