Children’s JC to host Safe Halloween

Body

The Gary E. Miller Canadian County Children’s Justice Center will host the third annual Safe Halloween event for a local school.

On Tuesday morning, children ages 6 to 8 will dress up and fill their bags with candy and prizes as they tour the center.

Center staff have decorated the halls and will dress up to hand out candy. Staff will also enjoy a pumpkin decorating contest, costume contest and hall decorating contest.

Roblyer honored by state retired educators group

Jimmy F. Roblyer was honored recently by the Oklahoma County Retired Educators Association.

Roblyer was among 13 retired educators honored for a Lifetime Contribution to the Teaching Profession as well as Distinguished Service to the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association.

Roblyer, a 1956 graduate of El Reno High School, was honored in Tulsa at the Annual State Convention of Retired Educators.

Lamplighters OHCE gather at Mount Zion Church

Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at Mount Zion Methodist Church, with Carol Stine calling the meeting to order.

Patricia Morrison gave a devotional titled “Imitate Me as I Imitate Christ.”

Roll call was answered by each person telling how they keep a positive mindset.

Maxine Little read minutes from the previous meeting, while Morrison gave the treasury report.

Morrison presented the leader lesson on “Families and Mental Health.”

El Reno Wranglers hold yearly officers election

The El Reno Wranglers held their October meeting at the 4-H building. Annual election of officers was conducted, with Jimmy Johnston elected as president; Gary Sorrells, vice president; Betty Kappus, secretary-treasurer; Julie Huber, reporter; and Betty Johnston, historian.

Board members include Marie Hirst, Gordon Hirst, Delmar Barthelme, Dennis Duncan, Fred Kappus, Eric Kappus, Mickey O’Dell and Gary Bunn.

Club queen is Trisha Duncan.

Underwood HCE holds meeting

The Oklahoma Home and Community Education Underwood Group met recently with Ann Ricketts serving as hostess. She led the flag salute and gave the devotional titled “Build Up One Another” based on I Thess 5:11.

Natalia Valenzuela called the roll with the question, “What do you do to keep a positive mindset?”

Bernita Davis read minutes from the September meeting, while Janan Fletcher gave the treasurer’s report.
