El Reno High School’s volleyball team snapped a two-match slide last week and earned its first road victory of the season with a 3-1 decision over Tuttle.

The 25-13/26-24/27-29/25-17 win lifted El Reno to 3-5 on the year and 1-3 in games away from Jenks Simmons Field House.

“It was close and we had to work to compete, but it was a big win in a fun volleyball environment. It was great because we had a team that was competitive and challenged us and we executed everything that we had been working on in practice. Our passes and hits were all on. We hustled and played smart volleyball."

El Reno was 96-of-102 for 94 percent from the serving line. Riley Connor served up eight straight points in her rotation in the final game and closed with four of the team’s seven ace serves. Kylee Chandler, Cassie Avendano and Bailey Denwalt added an ace each.

The net offense was 43-of-133 for a .352 hitting percentage. Denwalt logged a team-leading 21 kills, followed by Kadin Patterson with seven and Avendano with five kills. Chandler was close behind with four kills, while Avery Peffer had three kills and Jennis Goucher added one kill.

Avery Blount led all setters with 24 assists, while Denwalt had 14 assists.

El Reno’s defense got two blocks from Avendano and one block each from Denwalt and Peffer, with Connor logging one dig.
