After putting up 19 runs against Ardmore, El Reno High School’s softball team's offense cooled off in back-to-back losses last week.

El Reno dropped a 9-7 home game to Weatherford, the runner-up in District 4A-3, before hitting the road for a 9-1 loss to Class 6A power Edmond North.

Both losses were to teams with a combined 43 wins.

The non-district setbacks dropped El Reno to 19-12 on the season going into next week’s regional tourney.

In the loss to Weatherford, El Reno squandered a two-run lead after the Eagles scored six runs in the top of the third inning. The Indians rallied with a four-run fourth inning to tie the game at 6-all.

Weatherford scored three runs over the final three frames to only one for El Reno. The Indians had a chance to tie with two runners on in the bottom of the seventh and no outs, but the Eagles got a double play off a bunt, followed by a strikeout to end the threat.

El Reno logged nine hits in the loss as Kenzi Mutzig went 3-for-4 with a double. C.C. Medders and Raelyn Kouba were both 2-for-4 with a double, while Ashlee Houston and Taryn Wahweah each posted a two-bagger. Kira Taber and Krystiana Guzman added a hit each.

Miklyn Lumpmouth pitched seven full innings, allowing nine runs off 15 hits and two walks, while striking out two.

Against Edmond North, El Reno was held to three hits including a double each from Chenoa White and Mutzig, and Kouba with a single.

Lumpmouth took the loss with a line of 11 hits, nine runs and two strikeouts over four innings.
