El Reno spikers open season with 3-1 victory over Tecumseh

El Reno High School's volleyball team kicked off the 2021 season with a 3-1 road win over Tecumseh by scores of 25-12/14-25/25-16/25-10.

It was the first of two road matches for EHS, which was slated to play Thursday at Hennessey. The Indians were to open their home schedule with the El Reno Invitational on Saturday.

El Reno served at 89.9 percent in the win over Tecumseh, going 80-of-89 with 20 aces. The team carried a .196 hitting average, logging 29 kills out of 97 attempts with 10 errors.

Bailey Denwalt led the team in aces with 12, while Kylee Chandler chipped in five.

Emma and Madison Patswald and Savannah Robinson had one ace each.

Denwalt (.364) slapped down a team-leading 14 kills, followed by Avery Peffer (.429) with six.

Chandler and Emma Patswald had two kills each off duplicate .222 hitting efforts.

Jewell Graham and Robinson had two kills each and Trinity Black had one kill.

Madison Patswald led all setters with 11 assists, followed by Denwalt with eight. Ariana Segovia-Ortega added five assists, while Chandler and Robinson posted one each.

El Reno's defense got a solo and two assisted blocks from Denwalt. Graham and Robinson had an assisted block each. Segovia-Ortega had a team-high 16 digs, followed by 12 from Chandler and 10 from Denwalt. Emma Patswald added five.
