Nick Morrison

Nick “Popsie” Morrison, 75, of Yukon, passed away Aug. 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 25, 1950, Nick grew up in Union City, where he attended Union City High School. He was active in FFA, played basketball and baseball, and loved retelling the story of the time he played against Johnny Bench.

In 1969, Nick proudly joined the United States Marine Corps. His service took him across the country and overseas, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jacksonville, Fla., Cherry Point, N.C., Iwakuni (Japan), and Yuma, Ariz.

Lois Horn

Lois Marie Ratliff-Lewis-Horn was born June 10, 1933, in Hough, Texas County, Oklahoma, to parents, Emey Mae Lemon-Ratliff and Simpson Archelous Ratliff. She peacefully departed this life on Aug. 26, 2025, to be with her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home. 

In 1951, Lois met and married Francis Eugene Horn, a sergeant in the Air Force, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Their marriage was a loving partnership of 34 years and blessed them with four sons: Gary Lee, born in 1952; Steven Eugene, born in 1953; Jesse Elbert, born in 1957; and Darrell Ray, born in 1967.

Susan Elizabeth Kirby

Body

Susan Elizabeth Kirby was born Feb. 27, 1960, in Washington, D.C. to Ernest and Nadine Dorsey Kirby. She passed away Aug. 20, 2025, in Oklahoma City.

The third of eight children, Susan’s family moved several times across the country during her childhood with her father’s federal prison career. She graduated from Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas, in 1978.

Susan joyfully welcomed her children, Jan and Eric, and devoted herself to raising them with love and care.

In the mid-90s, she and her family settled in El Reno.

Margaret Heap of Birds

Body

Funeral services for Margaret Hutchinon Heap of Birds will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29 at the Concho Emergency Response Center with Rev. Gerald Panana officiating. Burial will be at the Concho Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Margaret died Aug. 24, 2025, at her home in Geary. She was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Concho and attended Concho Indian School.

Margaret was one of the longest living Arapaho elders in the Arapaho Tribe.

Ronnie Lynn Statton passed away peacefully Aug. 21, 2025, in his home at Calumet, surrounded by his loving family.

Ronnie was born Feb. 11, 1956, in El Reno to Carol (Stephens) Statton and Irvin Joseph Statton Jr.

Melvern G. Wilds

"Come in, come in. What do you know new?"

The Lord called Melvern G. Wilds home all too quickly on Aug. 18, 2025.

Melvern — affectionately known as Melvern, Melvin, M.G. or “Chigger” to his brothers — was born May 1, 1940, to S.C. “Collas” and Clara B. (Sharp) Wilds at the El Reno Sanitorium. He attended Riverside grade school and graduated from El Reno High School in 1958.

David Allan Mitchell

Body

David Allan Mitchell, 79, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, in Yukon. He was born Jan. 27, 1946, in Oklahoma City to James D. and Betty J. (Jackson) Mitchell.

A 1964 graduate of El Reno High School, David went on to attend Southwestern State University for several years. He then joined the U.S. Army, serving for 3 1/2 years before receiving an honorable discharge.

David moved to Yukon in 1997 and worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, retiring after 30 years of service.

Rosa Reed

Rosa (Moore) Reed, 83, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at her home. She was born in Harrah, the sixth of seven children born to Ray and Jessie Moore. Rosa was married for 64 years to the love of her life, Hubert (Hub) Reed. 

Graduating from Harrah High School, Redlands College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University prepared her for her teaching position at El Reno High School. After retirement, Rosa and Hub moved to the Johnson Community northeast of Shawnee.

Patrick LeFlore

Funeral services for Patrick Tennyson LeFlore of Geary will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 at the Geary ERC with Rev. Jay Mule officiating. Burial will follow at the Concho Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Geary.

Patrick passed away Aug. 18, 2025. He was born March 17, 1974, in Lawton. He graduated from Riverside Indian School and lived in Oklahoma for most of his life.

Delpha (Del) Inez Calvert Sturdivant

Body

Del went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025. She was born Feb. 25, 1939, to Faye and Arleigh Calvert in Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cliff Sturdivant; sister, Patti Mason; and brother, Arleigh “Sonny” Calvert.
