Charles Brandley, 79, passed away Feb. 4, 2022, going to his heavenly reward, surrounded by loved ones in his home on the farm where he was raised.

Charles dedicated his life to God and his church, his family and friends, his community and the family farm.

A third-generation native of El Reno, Charles was born Aug. 13, 1942, to Vernon and Laverne “Bobbie” (Johnson) Brandley.

Scott Allen Bollinger

Body

Scott Allen Bollinger went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022.

He was born Aug. 23, 1952, in El Reno to TJ and Alice Bollinger. He is the younger of two children, brother to Sandra. Scott resided in Union City and was 69 years of age. He married his wife, Martha on Nov. 23, 1973.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one unborn child, and a granddaughter in heaven.

Scott is survived by his wife and their 11 children, Kari, Kory, Karli, Kayli, Kami, Kolby, Kynzi, Kyler, Kwyn, Kade and Kolton.

Harold Eldon Turpin

Harold Eldon Turpin went home to Jesus on Jan. 30, 2022, at noontime, just in time for a heavenly tamale! “Turp” was born in Dustin, Oklahoma to Ted Wallace Turpin and Audrey Gilcrease Turpin on May 4, 1933.

Carlos Eugene (Gene) Sears

Body

Carlos Eugene (Gene) Sears was born in Bristow on Feb. 15, 1931, and passed away Feb. 2, 2022, at the age of 90.

Gene moved to El Reno in 1939. He graduated from El Reno High School and married Betty Lou Cunningham on Dec. 17, 1949.

He started trapshooting in 1952 and won numerous national championships.

He was inducted into the National Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 1983 and later into the National Sporting Clays Hall of Fame.

He was an avid shooter and traveled around the U.S. making numerous friends.

Doris Jean Watts

Funeral services for Doris Jean Watts of El Reno were held Wednesday at First Pentecostal Church of God, under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Doris passed away Jan. 27, 2022, at Mercy Hospital OKC with her family by her side.

She was born June 17, 1941, in Edmond. Doris married her true love, Gene Watts, on Dec. 23, 1955, a 65-year marriage before his recent passing.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Mildred Powell; brother, Johnnie Powell; and sister, Carol Anne Williams.

Dorothy Warren

Dorothy Lucille Warren died Jan. 31, 2022, at her home in El Reno. She was born June 3, 1943, in El Reno where she lived most of her life. She was a 1961 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and earned a bachelor of business degree from Central State University. 

Dorothy was an administrative analyst for IBM. After retiring from IBM, she worked at Warren’s Studio, Correctional Corporation of America in Weatherford, and was part of the opening staff at Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton, currently working in security.

Lonnie Johnson

Lonnie Earl Johnson, 84, of Tuttle, left this earth on Jan. 31, 2022. He was born in Chickasha on April 11, 1937, to Earl and Marie (Hickney) Johnson. Lonnie met and married the love of his life, Linda Joyce Ratliff, sharing 56 years of marriage.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Linda of Tuttle; son, Roger Johnson of El Reno; daughter, Keli Grubisa of Tuttle; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life for Judith Eloise Enright will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, at the El Reno First Assembly of God, under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Rosary for Alvin L. Morrison will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Union City, with Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.

Alvin, of Augusta, Kan., formerly of El Reno and Union City, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, in Augusta. He was born in Union City on Nov. 13, 1930, to the late Mary Ann (Musshafen) and Guy Harrison Morrison.

He was the former owner of Blue Ribbon Cabinets and retired in 2015 after 48 years.

Jerry Thurmond

Funeral services for Jerry Don Thurmond of Minco will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Minco First Baptist Church, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Jerry passed away Jan. 28, 2022, at his home. He was born Oct. 13, 1944, in Oklahoma City. Jerry was raised in the Binger/Cogar area, graduating from Binger High School. He worked as a driver in the trucking and transport field and also as a heavy equipment operator.
