Barry J. Henson died July 28, 2025, at his home in Mustang. He was born Jan. 15, 1957, in El Reno, where he lived most of his life. 

Barry is survived by his sisters, Margo Loyall and Dawn Brewer. 

At his request, there will not be a service. Arrangements were made by Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Services for Alfred D. Tallbird will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Concho Emergency Response Center.

Burial with military honors will follow at the Concho Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Alfred died July 25, 2025, at his home in Clinton. He was born May 30, 1942, in Kingfisher.

Reedy "Joe" Maples Jr.

Body

Reedy Maples Jr., known affectionately as “Joe” to family and friends, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Arbor House in Mustang. He was 89 years old.

A funeral service celebrating Joe’s life will be held at Huber-Benson Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. with Deacon Louis Nix officiating. He will be laid to rest at El Reno Cemetery.

Body

Services for Doris Hamilton will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 at the Concho Emergency Response Center with Rev. Waylan Upchego officiating. Burial will be at the Concho Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Doris died July 27, 2025, at her home in El Reno. She was born April 9, 1937, in Geary. She was a homemaker and seamstress.

Doris is survived by her son, Samuel Yellow Eyes of the home; three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Dr. Floyd Patterson Horn

Body

Services for Dr. Floyd Patterson Horn, formerly of El Reno, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Scott McBee officiating. A family visitation will follow.

Dr. Horn passed away July 26, 2025, in Colleyville, Texas. He was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Winchester, Mass.

He graduated from Winchester High School in 1961 and from Tilton Preparatory in Tilton, N.H., in 1962. Floyd earned a bachelor of science degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Maine in 1966 and a Doctor of Philosophy from West Virginia University in 1970.

Bobby Grissom

Bobby Joe Grissom died July 14, 2025, at his home in Maysville. He was born July 3, 1980, in Hollis. He worked as an exterminator and in construction. 

Bobby is survived by his children, Gavin Gunner Grissom and Jada Jewel Grissom, both of El Reno; father, Bobby Alan Grissom of Hollis; mother, Sandra Jo (Boicourt) Shelter of El Reno; sisters, Crystal Mason, Destiny Alana Potts and Lindsey Denae Shelter, all of El Reno; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobby was preceded in death by his grandmother, Shirley Beth Gregerson, and friend/brother, Jeremy Potts.

Dean Watson, 82, passed away July 5, 2025.

Services to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 12 at Kingfisher Church of Christ.

Cremation services were under the care of Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Enos Alfonso Svitak Jr. of El Reno were held Thursday, July 17 at Wares Chapel in Anadarko, with burial in the Wares Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Svitak died July 11, 2025. He was born Sept. 20, 1957, in Anadarko, and attended Anadarko schools.

He worked with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, retiring in 2008.

Leota May Harman

Body

Leota May (Randall) Harman, a beloved small-town seamstress, cherished wife, devoted mother and loving grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully July 9, 2025, at St. Katharine Drexel Retirement Home.

Born May 5, 1938, to Newton and Nellie Randall, she was raised in a close-knit community near Okarche. She attended the dependent school district of Mountain View until eighth grade and graduated from El Reno High School in 1956.

James Johnson

Body

James Ray (Jim) Johnson, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in El Reno on July 1, 2025. He was born June 24, 1936, in Chandler, Oklahoma, to Tommie Ross Johnson and Myrtle Virginia (Curtis) Johnson. He spent his formative years in Chandler, graduating from Chandler High School in 1955, where he recently celebrated his 70th class reunion.

Jim enlisted in the Army National Guard on Sept. 13, 1954, as a senior in high school and served honorably until his discharge on July 8, 1963, with the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
