The family of Elynda Jane Coburn sadly announces her passing on Oct. 12, 2025.

Elynda is survived by her brother, A. Dennis Merrill (Carolyn) of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., and sister, Carolyn Williamson of Joplin, Mo.

Also surviving are nieces, Autumn Merrill of Lebanon, Tenn., Tracy Batalon and Tyanne Kelly of Las Vegas, Nev. She is also survived by several cousins in the El Reno and Tennessee area.

Peggy Josephine Zehr

Peggy Josephine Zehr was born Sept. 26, 1936, in Shamrock, Oklahoma, to Richard and Hazel (Owensby) Cooper. She passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, at the age of 89. She grew up in Torrance, California, and graduated from Narbonne High School in Harbor City, Calif., where she was a twirler in the band that marched in the Rose Bowl Parade.

Funeral services for Gary Kendle Monks will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at the John M. Ireland Chapel in Moore, with burial at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Gary passed away Oct. 19, 2025. He was born Oct. 29, 1950.

Coleen Ann (Patterson) Logan died Aug. 30, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Edmond. She was born March 17, 1949, in El Reno. 

A graduate of El Reno High School, Coleen loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Coleen Patterson; son, George Edward Friday; and brother, Jackie Patterson.

John Duane Crider

It is with profound sadness we share the news of the passing of John Duane Crider. Surrounded by family, he was welcomed into the arms of angels on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, in Edmonds, Washington. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou and John Crider of Lamont, Oklahoma, his brother, Dick Crider and sister, Kay Fiebig.

Geneva Louise (Klohn) Schweitzer was born Aug. 3, 1947, and went to heaven on Sept. 15, 2025, at the age of 78. 

Geneva was a faithful Christian and devoted member of First Christian Church in Calumet for 49 years. She taught children in Sunday school up until a few years ago when she had to retire.

She believed Jesus was her Lord and Savior and wanted everyone to know, “It is never too late to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Funeral services for Reta Louise Mata will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the Concho Emergency Response Center, followed by burial in the Concho Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Reta died Oct. 3, 2025, at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City.

She was born Sept. 5, 1958, in Memphis, Texas.

She was a production worker for a carpet manufacturing company.

Graveside services for Dorothy Jane Justus of Minco were held Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Dorothy passed away Sept. 26, 2025, in Yukon. She was born May 8, 1929, in Walnut Grove and was raised in the Walnut Grove community. She later attended school at Western Heights in Oklahoma City.

She was employed in custodial services throughout her life.

Jack D. Marquis Jr., 65, born in Caldwell, Kansas, passed away Sept. 22, 2025, in his hometown of El Reno. 

Jack is survived by his mother, Carolyn Marquis Paterno; sisters, Kim Marquis and Christina Marquis; half-brother, Rodney Latzke (Sonya); his children, CM (Joe), Jennifer Chapman (Louis), Jennifer Oppelt, Jack Marquis III (Morgan) and Ashley Marquis; and a very devoted niece, Kaley Marquis; as well as grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Sophie Cruzita Panana Burgess were held Monday, Sept. 29 at the Concho Emergency Response Center with Revs. Gerald Panana and Waylan Upchego officiating. Burial was in the Concho Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Sophie died Sept. 24, 2025, in Oklahoma City. She was born Feb. 25, 1941, in Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico.

She attended Jemez Springs High School, graduating in 1963.
