Funeral services for Shirley Lou Oaks of Minco were held Friday at First Baptist Church in Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Shirley passed away Oct. 17, 2021, at her home. She was born April 18, 1937, in Cogar and was raised in the Cogar/Minco area.

She had worked at the Davis Super Café, the Little Giant Pump Company and later for Western Electric until her retirement.

Shirley was a past city council member and coordinated the first Minco October Fest. She was a member of the Rodeo Club and Canaan Baptist Church.

Virginia Catherine Porta Bass

Virginia Catherine (“Kay”) Porta Bass died on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021.

Born in Oklahoma City on June 11, 1940, Kay graduated from El Reno High School in 1958 and attended Monticello College and University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Funeral services for Corliss Jean (Allen) Collins will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, with Rev. Ray Griffin officiating. Come-and go-viewing will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, 100 N. Barker, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21. Graveside services will be held at the El Reno Cemetery.

Funeral services for Eugene Lee Irion will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at First Baptist Church of El Reno with Pastor Grant Findley officiating. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Gene passed away Oct. 15, 2021, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City with his family by his side. He was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Bethany to Fred G. and Marie (Robinson) Irion. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Funeral services for Bruce Lee Redbird will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Huber-Benson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Concho Cemetery.

Bruce died Oct. 11, 2021, in Norman.

Thomas E. Pitts

Thomas E. Pitts, age 74, of El Reno, passed away Oct. 13, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Thomas was born May 29, 1947, in Oklahoma City.

He was retired from the Federal Correctional Institution in El Reno and the U.S. Army, where he attained many honors.

He attended Wesley United Methodist Church in El Reno. Thomas was very active in the community and a member of many organizations, including the Eagle Scouts.

Thomas loved to hunt and fish.

Charlotte was born June 30, 1954, in Monroe, La., to Charles Pippin and Marvell Kent Pippin Shrum and passed away Oct. 10, 2021, in Oklahoma City.

Memorial services for Christel Olivia Guevara of Minco will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Christel died Oct. 8, 2021, at her home. She was born Jan. 13, 1979, in Chickasha. She was raised in the Minco community and attended Minco schools. She had worked at the Union City Correctional Facility, the Minco Hog Farm and as a cafeteria cook for El Reno Public Schools. She was a member of the Minco Trail Riders when she was younger and the Alex Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Roy Calvin Koerner of Minco were held Thursday at First Baptist Church in Minco, followed by burial with military honors in the Evergreen Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Belinda Lee “Bwinnie” Smith were held Thursday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Hancock officiating.   

Bwinnie died Oct. 8, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Kingfisher. She was born Jan. 30, 1967, in Chandler.

She was a homemaker.
