Betty J. Haller

Betty J. Haller of El Reno met her Savior in Heaven on Jan. 10, 2022. She was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Stuttgart, Ark., the oldest child of Otto George and Stella Marie Rubach.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Betty was a 1950 graduate of Stuttgart High School. In 1948, she met the love of her life, Joe H. Haller. They were married March 15, 1952.

Betty retired after many years of service with Canadian County. She was the Election Board secretary for Canadian County for many years.

Clara Bushyhead

Body

Graveside service for Clara Ann Bushyhead was held Thursday at the Concho Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Panana officiating. Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Clara died Jan. 5, 2022, at SSM St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born July 3, 1964, in Clinton. She was a graduate of El Reno High School.

Ruth Kostruha Roberts Reusser was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Rosie (Strouhal) and Charlie Kostruha. Ruth had a younger sister, Alice. The family moved to El Reno when Ruth was a child.

Christian Jessen Hansen Jr.

Funeral services for Christian Jessen Hansen Jr. were held Friday, Jan. 7 at First Christian Church in Calumet with Rev. Tim Clausing officiating. Burial followed in the Calumet Cemetery. Services were entrusted to Turner Funeral Home, Geary.

C.J. passed away Jan. 1, 2022, in El Reno at the age of 87. He was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Calumet to Christian Jessen Sr. and Mary Ann (Jensen) Hansen. C.J. graduated from Calumet High School and from SuL Ross State College in Alpine, Texas, where he played basketball on scholarship.

Scotty Bigpond Sr.

Body

Funeral services for Scotty Dale Bigpond Sr. were held Friday at the Concho Emergency Response Center, with burial following in the Concho Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Scotty died Dec. 23, 2021, in Dulac, La. He was born Jan. 11, 1966, in Lawton, and graduated from Coweta High School. Scotty worked in highway construction.

Funeral services for Frank Sage Nickel were held Friday at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond.

Mr. Nickel, 59, of Edmond, passed away Dec. 27, 2021.

Zelma Reuter

Zelma Martha Hubbard was born March 10, 1924, to Ross and Bessie Hubbard. She passed on Dec. 27, 2021, with her children by her side.   

Zelma grew up in the El Reno area and worked for her father at the stockyards. She married Wayne Reuter in the middle of a snowstorm on Jan. 27, 1948, at First Presbyterian Church in El Reno. For their nearly 74 years of marriage, Zelma and Wayne spent their days side by side.

Margaret “Sue” Terneus, 91, was born Oct. 31, 1930, in Richland, and passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, in Yukon at the age of 91.

Sue was predeceased by parents, Sanford and Janie Miller, and brothers, Gerald Miller, Sandy Miller, Harold Miller, James Miller and Gordon Miller.

Funeral services for Kaitlyn Rose Willey will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Concho Emergency Response Center with Emmett McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the Concho Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Kaitlyn died Dec. 26, 2021, at St. Anthony Hospital in Midwest City. She was born July 27, 2007, in Lander, Wyo. She lived most of her life in Geary and was a member of the Watonga Indian Baptist Church.

Kaitlyn was a ninth-grade student at Star Spencer High School where she participated in J.R.O.T.C. and the Star Spencer Dance Team.

Davie Clarence Abner

Body

Davie Clarence Abner, 89, of El Reno, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father on Jan. 2, 2022.

Davie was born in Hartshorne on Nov. 6, 1932, to Virgil Lee and Johnnie Ruby (Manning) Abner. Davie moved to El Reno in 1942, attended El Reno schools and graduated from El Reno High School in 1952. He worked in grocery stores from the age of 13, working in Hurst Grocery from 1951 to 1981. Davie then went to work at Abstract Title Company until his retirement in 1995.
