Canadian County Sheriff Chris West canceled all jail visitation last week and changed procedures for how attorneys and inmates meet in response to COVID-19.

West said the changes are intended to protect the jail population and jail staff from any potential contamination.

West said the office has also halted all processing of SDA gun permit processing and fingerprinting until May 1.

“I’m asking the public to bear with us as we do our part to protect our jail population, jail staff and other sheriff ’s office employees from COVID-19, so that we can continue to serve and protect the citizens of Canadian County,” said West.
