El Reno Learning Center - Principal
Hello El Reno:
I am excited and honored to be the principal of El Reno Learning Center. My staff and I will continue to provide the academic standards of education that has made El Reno Learning Center the award-winning campus that it has been.
I grew up not too far from here in Purcell, where I was the youngest of five siblings, and we all graduated from Purcell High School.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Central Oklahoma and my master’s degree in education administration from West Texas A&M University. I have been married to Debbie for 41 years. We have a son, Michael. He and his wife, Leyya live in Carrollton, Texas.
I grew up attending First Christian Church. I enjoy hunting, fishing, pretty much all sports, especially high school and college football, and cooking.
I started my career in education as a teacher and a coach. I spent 13 years in Oklahoma and 10 years in Texas. The last 19 years of my career, I have been an administrator with Amarillo Independent School District in Texas.
I served as an administrator at the junior high and high school levels and the last five years as an administrator at the Alternative High School Campus.
I believe that every student can be successful. As educators, it is our job to provide students with the tools to be successful.
Every day at El Reno Learning Center, we will provide all students who may have deficient credits or gaps in their education a non-traditional setting where they will feel safe and secure to explore and provide learning at their own pace.
It is designed to provide students with an individualized plan toward graduation and to move forward toward post-secondary education, military or trade/industrial career tracks.
The El Reno Learning Center offers a variety of different educational avenues to meet the needs of students, on-site learning, online learning (virtual school) and blended learning models.
We also provide the personal needs of students including teen parents, life skill coaching, parenting and counseling for students desiring extra attention in career and after high school educational opportunities.
We are also partnered with Canadian Valley Technology Center so they can work toward certifications to start life in the real-world job fields after high school.
Our staff includes Russell Cook, assistant principal; Chris Lambakis, counselor; Jennifer Douglas, secondary math; Jimmy Percival, reading and study skills; Michael Pruitt, secondary history; Tasha Steffler, secondary English; Graham Snelding, secondary science; Prince Ezeala, seventh and eighth grade; Becky Munsel, teacher assistant; Alexia Vasquez, teacher assistant; and Jessica Brown, administrative assistant.
We look forward to seeing you on enrollment night the evening of Aug. 12 between the hours of 4 and 7.
