If you didn’t get a haircut before Thursday, you may be waiting awhile.

Gov. Kevin Stitt issued a state of emergency last week closing businesses considered non-essential. The order went into effect at midnight Wednesday.

On Wednesday, El Reno issued its own state of emergency, updated from an earlier one proclaimed on March 16.

In the local order, adults over the age of 65 or with underlying health conditions are ordered to stay home, only going out when absolutely necessary for groceries, gas or work in critical infrastructure jobs.

El Reno Carnegie Library, Senior Citizens Center, city garage and utilities office are closed to the public. The Municipal Building, Police Department and Public Safety Center will only allow access to the lobbies.

The Cemetery Office and Fire Station No. 2 allow only exterior access through intercom.

The Northwest Community Center and the RV Clubhouse will not allow rentals. Crimson Creek Golf Course and the Regional Airport will remain open with special precautions in place.

All public and private gatherings have been postponed until further notice. The city council will continue to meet and citizens are still allowed to attend. Special steps will be taken to maintain distance between all those attending.

Even so, citizens are encouraged to attend the meetings remotely through Facebook or television.

Cutoffs for water and sewer utilities are not being issued until further notice.

The court offices are also closed to the public. All court arraignments, hearings and trials will be rescheduled.

All non-essential businesses have been closed. Public fundraisers, concerts, parades, sporting events and festivals, including Burger Day, have been canceled or delayed.

Churches are asked to limit their attendees to no more than 10 and to keep each person at least 6 feet from others.

Stitt’s order on March 24 closed bars. Restaurants may remain open for curbside pickup and delivery only.

Gathering in dining areas is not permitted. Privately-owned gathering places are limited to 10 patrons or less, with a 6-foot distance between each person.

Local gyms, hair salons, massage parlors, theaters, tattoo parlors and museums are declared non-essential and closed until further notice.
