Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Gov. Reggie Wassana said a state of emergency exists in the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes as a result of the threat of COVID-19.

Wassana said all tribal programs and casino operations will be suspended and all employees will be paid their regular salary for two weeks.

“As traditional people, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes always take care and look out for our tribal citizens and neighbors,” said Wassana.

“With the number of reported cases, it is in the best interest for our tribal citizens and community to isolate ourselves to protect all individuals during this health pandemic. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who travel and I encourage everyone to please pray and take all cautious steps to take care of each other.

“The Tribes will ensure that tribal members continue to receive services and support mandated through our essential service employees and offices.”
