Indians ninth in Class 5A state bid

Despite being one of five teams to improve its score over the final round of the 2026 Class 5A Oklahoma Girls State Golf Championship, El Reno High School was unable to break out of the ninth position.

Playing the Shangri-la Resort Course on Grand Lake, the Indians improved their score two strokes from the opening tally, closing with rounds of 400-398 for a 36-hole total of 798.

Bishop McGuinness, Blanchard and Claremore also made jumps.

Robinson triple sends Redlands into six-team title hunt

Aiden Robinson hit a two-run triple and then scored the game-winning run off a subsequent error as Redlands Community College defeated Arkansas Mid-South 6-5.

Redlands took the first game of the best of three series with the Greyhounds 15-4. The sweep came in the crossover round of the NJCAA Region 2, Division II playoffs.

The Cougars improve to 13-13 in league play and 22-34 on the season and advance into the six-team, double-elimination bracket for the NJCAA Region 2, Division II Championship, which starts Thursday in Enid.

El Reno High School’s baseball team recently recognized its seniors.

Jonathan Shelley, Aziah Pedro, William Gipson, Mason Fulton, Trevor Felz, Jonah Dew and Preston Ashford were honored.

The program honored Angela Lesperance and Jessica Shamblin for their efforts to support the program behind the scenes.

Mary Roberta Patton

Body

Mary Roberta Patton, 82, of El Reno, passed away May 1, 2026, in El Reno.

Roberta was born October 22, 1943, in Roswell, N.M., to Ralph Robert Gray and Mary Jane Gray. Both of her parents died from tuberculosis when she was young, and she went to live with her Granny and Aunt Carol.

She graduated from Roswell High School and moved to Las Cruces, N.M., to attend New Mexico State University. Roberta graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics.

She moved to Oklahoma to do her internship at University Hospital and spent a large part of her career there as a Dietitian.

Lynn Marie Coffey

Body

Lynn Marie Coffey, 74, of Okarche, passed away peacefully May 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born March 9, 1952, in Okarche to Frank and Bernice Krittenbrink, Lynn was a proud lifelong member of the community she cherished so deeply. She graduated from Okarche High School, and not long after, met the love of her life, Mike Coffey.

Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and unwavering devotion.

Lynn was a faithful servant of Holy Trinity Church, and a steady, caring presence in the Okarche community.

Minnie Goodbear

Body

Wake service for Minnie Elizabeth Goodbear will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, with funeral services at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 9.

Both services will be at the Concho Emergency Response Center, with burial in the Concho Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. 

Minnie died May 1, 2026, in Albuquerque, N.M.  

Linda Estep

Body

Linda Jean Estep, age 77, of El Reno, passed away peacefully in her home on May 3, 2026. She was born Dec. 7, 1948, to her beloved parents, James Dale and Lila Belle Clark. They made their home on a farm outside of Union City. Linda was blessed with three siblings, Alan, Dianna and Ronda. She graduated from Union City High School Class of 1967. 

On Oct. 5, 1968, Linda married Roy Wayne Estep. Together they made a home in El Reno, where they raised two daughters, Shelly and Shanna.
