El Reno has attracted more commercial investment, said Jerry Hocker of Hocker and Associates of Oklahoma City.
Hocker said two of three parcels owned by Redlands Community College along South Country Club have been sold.
As reported earlier, Waffle House purchased .98 acres in August. Purchase price was $275,000, Hocker said. He said the restaurant will be built on the frontage lot on the south edge of the RCC campus.
The City of El Reno has been recognized by the American Planning Association – Oklahoma Chapter (APA-OK) with the statewide honor of “Great Public Space” for the Filling Station Visitor Center in downtown El Reno.
The award was presented at the recent APA-OK annual conference and highlights exemplary place-making that contributes to community identity, economic vitality and public use.

Two El Reno attorneys were recently elected to serve on the Oklahoma Bar Association’s governing board.
Jana L. Knott was elected to serve as the 2026 president-elect, and Kristy E. Loyall was elected to serve a three-year term as a governor representing Supreme Court Judicial District 9, which consists of Caddo, Canadian, Comanche, Cotton, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa and Tillman counties. They will be part of the OBA’s 17-member Board of Governors, which meets monthly and governs the association.
In October, the Children’s Justice Center celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Fort Reno Adolescent Center and behavioral health programs.
The Fort Reno Adolescent Center is a 12-bed residential treatment program serving youth ages 13 to 17 who are struggling with substance use. For two decades, the program has made a meaningful difference in the lives of young people in Canadian County, providing essential treatment and support during a critical stage of development.
After marking its eighth consecutive semester of enrollment growth this fall, Redlands Community College is opening enrollment for spring and summer classes.
The continued increase in enrollment highlights the college’s strong academic programs and its commitment to providing accessible, high-quality education.
“Our continued growth shows that students recognize the value of an education that leads directly to career opportunities,” said Redlands President Jena Marr.
Arlene Caryl Imboden Grimsley was born Oct. 5, 1936, to Clarence and Mildred (Sawallisch) Imboden at their home on Route 66 in El Reno, Oklahoma.
On Nov. 11, 2025, Arlene was reunited with her parents and sisters when she passed away peacefully in Yukon, Oklahoma.
A proud graduate of El Reno High School’s Class of 1954, Arlene went on to attend her beloved Oklahoma State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She later completed a master’s degree in education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
