Construction on the new roundabout at U.S. Highway 81 and Route 66 is on schedule, according to City of El Reno Field Services Director Amy Smith.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) awarded the contract for the $10,030,072.14 project to Redlands Contracting LLC, based out of Warr Acres, and construction began in early February of 2024.

“At our last meeting they said that everything was on schedule and would be completed by June of this year, which is the contract date,” said Smith.

Special needs egg hunts set for April 14-17

The hunt must go on.

That’s the sentiment of Larry and Nancy Salsman. The pair have taken it upon themselves to put on the Easter egg hunt for special needs children.

The event was normally hosted by the VFW. But after the organization disbanded in El Reno, Nancy Salsman said she and her husband knew they couldn’t let the egg hunt fade away.

Salsman said the couple have purchased eggs for the hunt and have coordinated with El Reno Public Schools to hold the special event at school sites.
