Services for Terry Lee Farmer of Pocasset were held Monday, Nov. 11 at Friendship United Methodist Church with burial following at the Friendship Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco.

Terry passed away Nov. 6, 2024, at his home. He was born Nov. 17, 1948, in Ava, Mo. He had worked as a tile setter and later in trucking and transport until his retirement.

The Underwood Oklahoma Home and Community Education Club met recently in the home of Janan Fletcher.

Other members attending were Natalia Valenzuela, Bernita Davis, Vicki Duncan, Delpha Miklautsch, Ann Ricketts and Renee’ Schweitzer.

Ricketts led the flag salute, with Davis reading the October minutes. In conjunction with Veterans Day, Fletcher read scriptures about sacrificing as the devotional.

Duncan reported the county is asking for suggestions for 2025 club lessons. Also, a possible county-wide trip to the Bible Artifacts exhibit is being considered. 

Members of Chapter AE of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization) met for their November meeting in the home of Cynthia Jensen. Attending were Christy Eichholz, Margaret Price, Janan Fletcher, Ann Zavy, Becky Reuter, Robin White-Mahone, Janice Jensen and Anna Rinehart.

Eichholz opened the meeting with the reciting of the Ode, Objects and Aims, with Zavy reading the P.E.O. prayer.

Previous minutes were read and approved, and Price gave the report on committees.

Services for Janetta June Ray of Minco were held Saturday, Nov. 9 at Canaan Baptist Church with burial following at the Evergreen Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Janetta passed away Nov. 1, 2024, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born June 26, 1939, in Okemah, graduating from Okemah High School in 1957. She then attended Hills Business University in Oklahoma City. She moved to Minco in 1968. She was a homemaker and member of Canaan Baptist Church.

OKLAHOMA CITY – With a playoff berth off the table and facing a one-win opponent, El Reno High School football coach Russell Cook used the four days leading up to the Indians 2024 season finale stressing two simple words – pride and legacy.

His seniors listened.

In their final game the senior classmen produced four turnovers on defense, logged 76 yards of offense and found the end zone three times en route to a lopsided 48-0 victory over Western Heights.

Union City High School’s girls basketball team is off to a 2-0 start for a second straight season after last week’s 36-20 win over Calumet in the battle of Canadian County’s two smallest schools.

The Tigers win kicked off Washita Valley Conference play for both schools as Calumet dropped to 0-1. It was the second straight win for Union City in the rivalry with the Chieftains, who had won five in a row over UCHS until last season’s loss.
