Larry Eugene Patswald died May 28, 2023, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, with his wife, Amy by his side.

Christopher Valmer Fredrick Williams was born Oct. 20, 1970, and passed away on May 16, 2023, in El Reno. Chris loved fishing, welding and helping others. He had a funny sense of humor and a kind heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services for Ethel Irene (Choat) Gooden will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Geary Cemetery, under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Hinton. Viewing will be Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Geary Turner Funeral Home.

The President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon have been announced for the 2023 spring semester. To qualify for the President’s Honor Roll, an undergraduate student must earn all A’s in 12 or more hours during a semester.

Graveside services for Jerry William Lee of Minco were held Tuesday, May 30 at the Swan Hill Cemetery in Ada, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home in Minco. Jerry died May 23, 2023, at his home. He was born March 10, 1938, in Ada.

Less than a month into his tenure as defensive coordinator, Michael Pruitt has already gotten a leg up on veteran coach and El Reno High School offensive play-caller Graham Snelding.

As overnight showers yielded to sunny skies, the 2023 Mary K. Ashbrook Kids Fishing Derby drew close to 300 youth anglers to the banks of Lake El Reno. Hosted by the El Reno Sportsman’s Club, the event pulled in a total of 291 anglers ranging in age from under 3 years old up to age 15.
