Funeral services for Gerald Kent (Hoss) Horse were held Wednesday at Huber-Benson Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Horse and Ken Wehmuller officiating.
Burial followed at the Concho Cemetery.
Gerald died Jan. 27, 2023, at his home in El Reno. He was born Nov. 21, 1966, in El Reno.
He worked in the oil field industry as a blowout specialist and later as a cook. He was a member of the Native American Church and attended the Methodist Church. He was an avid member of the C&A Sundance and the Kiowa Gourd Clan.

CHICKASHA – There is no reason to hit the panic button after El Reno High School’s wrestling team posted a seventh-place finish in the 2023 Chickasha Classic.
El Reno, which was bumped from the top spot in the latest Class 5A rankings by Elgin, did not take its full varsity squad to the event.
The Indians, who are now ranked second in the state, rested five starters including Dailey Jennings and brothers Foxx and Kyler Kurtz.
Eight members of the Okarche High School Speech Team brought home Class 3A sweepstakes honors in the Alva Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament.
Senior Brody Sadler placed second in domestic extemporaneous speaking and teamed with junior Anna Shirey to place first in debate.
Shirey also placed first in original oratory and was a finalist in domestic extemp.
CHICKASHA – El Reno High School’s wrestling team placed four grapplers third or higher in the girls division of the 2023 Chickasha Classic, including a pair of gold medals.
Claire Solansky (115) took gold with a 5:24 fall over Santa Fe South’s Rubi Mendoza in the finals.
She posted a 3-0 record with falls over Putnam City’s Evelyn Gamas (1:12) and Westmoore’s Kyrstan Perez (0:53).

El Reno High School’s football program had two players clear the first hurdle in the quest for a roster spot on the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s All-State Team.
Senior Ryan Sigler was named to the Class 5A All-Star Team as a defensive lineman, while classmate Evan Roman Nose was named as a defensive back. While neither player was named to the final West All-State roster, they are considered to be alternate selections.
The game is set to be played July 28. Open spots on the roster ahead of kickoff are traditionally filled off the alternate list.

Hampered by a 31 percent shooting effort, Redlands Community College women’s basketball team dropped a 61-42 home game to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
The loss slipped the Cougars to 10-12 on the season and 3-5 in the NJCAA Region 2 standings.
Redlands was slated to play at Seminole State on Thursday before making up a home game with Northern Oklahoma College of Enid on Saturday, with tipoff set for 5 p.m.
