CALUMET – Fast-paced shootouts are expected when Calumet and Okarche high school’s boys basketball teams meet and last week’s installment of the cross-county rivalry did little to damage that reputation.

Okarche used a 19-8 run in the fourth period to rally from an eight-point deficit to hand the Chieftains their first loss of the season, 74-71.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak in the series for Okarche, now 1-1 on the year. The Warriors last win over Calumet was a three-point decision in 2017.
