Redlands Community College, UCO establish transfer student process

The University of Central Oklahoma and Redlands Community College now have a transfer agreement that provides Redlands students with a seamless transfer experience to Central.

The institutions celebrated the partnership with a signing ceremony Sept. 30 at Central Oklahoma.

“This transfer agreement provides a seamless pathway for Redlands students to become Central Bronchos after earning their associate degree,” said Patti Neuhold-Ravikumar, UCO president.

“Partnerships like this help break down barriers for those who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree.”

Banner School won second place for its student-made float during the Yukon Czech Parade.

STEAM students in kindergarten through eighth grade designed and constructed the float.

Marlene Young

Body

Marlene Young, 83, of Oklahoma City, passed away Oct. 2, 2022, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital.

Marlene was born July 4, 1939, to Dewitt Talmage Keesee and Ruby Lorene Denton Keesee in Mangum, Oklahoma. Marlene married Gene Young on June 4, 1966, in Fort Smith, Ark. Gene worked for the El Reno Federal Reformatory. Upon their moving to El Reno, Marlene opened Marlene’s Beauty Salon on Sunset Drive in El Reno in 1966. She closed her shop in 2016. She was proud to have operated a beauty salon in El Reno for 50 years.

Smith selected as Teacher of the Month

Body

Magic 104 and American Fidelity recently presented Riverside teacher Bailey Smith as the first Magic 104 Teacher of the Month.

She received $250 and tickets to a Carrie Underwood concert.

Smith is the middle school ELA teacher and assistant basketball coach. She was nominated by a personal friend who has observed firsthand that she works long hours and puts her whole being into her work as a teacher.

The nomination stated that Smith works just as hard to teach her students life lessons as she does academic lessons.

Patsy Clem

Graveside services for Patsy Lou Finch Clem of Yukon were held Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Patsy passed away Sept. 30, 2022, in Yukon. She was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Cogar. Patsy was raised in the Cogar community, graduating from Binger High School in 1961. She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha with a degree in elementary education and home economics. She attained her master’s degree from Central State University.

Lucille Todd

Funeral services for Lucille Tabor Todd were held Friday at Geary First Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Mule officiating. Burial was in the Concho Cemetery under the direction of Turner Funeral Home.

Lucille passed away Oct. 2, 2022, in El Reno. She was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Clinton, and grew up in Greenfield. Lucille loved to sew, loved beading and making shawls, cooking for everyone and playing golf.

Survivors include her children, JoElla Hamm and Joseph E. Todd Jr., and stepson, Curtis Big Eagle; sister, Peggy Dawson; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
