A walk-off fielder’s choice single by Kaydence Pawnee in the bottom of the fifth inning allowed pinch runner Isabelle Choat to score as El Reno High School’s fast-pitch softball team defeated Shawnee 3-2.

El Reno High School’s football team went through a two and a half hour padded practice Friday, starting the countdown clock to this week’s preseason scrimmage with Elk City.

Union City High School’s baseball team got a delayed start to the 2022 fall season over the weekend, taking third in the Earlsboro Invitational with a 2-1 record. The Tigers dropped a close 6-5 game to Moss in pool play but bounced back for a 10-8 decision over Vanoss.

El Reno will have a slightly different city council ward map after the new version was adopted in a 3-2 vote. The new ward map was one of three choices offered to the council and was described by City Planner Dustin Downey as the one making the least change to the previous map.

Canadian County was well represented as the Oklahoma Military Order of the Purple Heart passed out a host of commendations for those who have gone above and beyond to assist veterans.
