Maurice Ellsworth Thompson Jr. (Buddy) died peacefully March 3, 2022, at his home in El Reno while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., and a few years later embarked on a train ride to Calumet, Okla., where he resided for over 70 years. He was the second oldest of eight children.

Women from El Reno Class of 1960 looking for classmates for luncheon

Body

Women of the 1960 El Reno High School graduating class are looking for ladies who graduated with them for a luncheon.

Due to COVID, the class was unable to have a 60th class reunion, and now turning 80 years old this year, the ladies want to celebrate surviving another year.

A gathering is planned April 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Johnnie’s Charcoal Broiler, 2652 W. Britton Road in Oklahoma City.

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Darrell Anthony Crone, age 42, of Mustang, on Feb. 27, 2022. Darrell was born June 13, 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his sister, Jennifer; and his parents, Lester and Marilyn Crone.

Darrell graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s of art degree in advertising and then went on to the Miami Ad School in Minneapolis, Minn., to develop skills in copywriting.

Memorial services for Nelson Erwin Clark will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church Brown Event Center in Geary with Rev. Richard Cox and Rev. Wendell Prim officiating.

Services are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home.

Nelson passed away Jan. 4, 2022, in Watonga.

He was born March 11, 1942, in Concho. He grew up in the Geary area and attended Geary schools before moving to Chicago, where he graduated from Senn High School.

The pair, City Manager Matt Sandidge said, bring a combination of experience, vision and vitality to the positions.

RCC professor named Medal of Excellence winner

The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has announced the winners of its 2022 Oklahoma Medal for Excellence Awards honoring outstanding educators in Oklahoma’s public schools.

The awards will be presented at the foundation’s 36th Academic Awards Celebration on May 21 at the Omni Oklahoma City Hotel. Each of the five winners will receive a $5,000 cash prize.
