RCC releases honor rolls for ’21 spring semester

Redlands Community College recently announced students named to the college’s honor rolls for the spring 2021 semester.

Students listed on the President’s Honor Roll have completed 12 or more credit hours and have earned a GPA of not less than 3.8, with no grade less than a B — excluding 0-level courses.

The Vice President’s Honor Roll is for students who have completed 12 or more hours of coursework and have earned a GPA of 3.5 to 3.79, with no grade less than a C — excluding 0-level courses.

El Reno’s Fryar on Dean’s List at Olivet Nazarene

Maddison Fryar of El Reno is among those named to the Dean’s List at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill.

A student must have been enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and must have attained a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.00 grading scale for inclusion on the Dean’s List.

Okarche’s one-act play takes third

Okarche High School’s contest play, “Kindertransport,” placed third in the OSSAA’s one-act play contest for the 2020-21 school year.

Cherokee was named state champion, with Alva being selected as state runner-up.

Also, OHS junior Emily Neuenschwander was named to the All-State play cast, an honor that goes to the top 10 performances among the eight plays that qualified for state competition.

Baustert earns scholarship

Body

Apron Annies HCE scholarship recipient for 2021 at Okarche High School was salutatorian Nick Baustert, son of John and Donna Baustert.

Baustert plans to attend UCO to become a nurse practitioner.

While it was not “overly physical” according to head coach Chuck Atchison, El Reno High School’s football program wrapped up spring drills with an intra-squad scrimmage.

“We got all our days in. We had a lot of young players that got a lot of reps in and we got what we wanted to get done accomplished. The practices were not overly physical, but that’s OK,” said Atchison.

The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association allows member districts to hold spring contact football drills for 10 days following the conclusion of all state tournaments for spring sports.

El Reno lands four on 5A-1 elite squads

While a potential record-setting season went belly up over the final week, there was no question El Reno High School’s girls soccer team had some talented players.

Four of those standouts were recently honored with selections to the All-District 5A-1 squads as voted on by member coaches. Caroline Huber was named to the first team, followed by honorable mention picks for Joey Lierle and twins Carlie and Kinley Golden.

El Reno to offer summer athletic camps

With COVID-19 restrictions being eased by both the El Reno Public Schools and the state of Oklahoma, several El Reno High School athletic programs will be holding youth camps this month.

Each camp will have both breakfast and lunch provided to any camper, family member or camp worker under the age of 18 in attendance. Meals are being provided by the ERPS Summer Feeding Program.

Funeral services for Jean Maxine Edmonson were held Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Rod Young officiating. Burial followed in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Jean died May 28, 2021, in El Reno. She was born April 4, 1927, in Topeka, Kan. Jean was raised in Kansas until 1940 when her family moved to Enid.

Ashleigh Lauren Fulgham

Body

Ashleigh Lauren Fulgham died May 27, 2021, while a passenger in a vehicle involved in an accident in Missouri. 

Services were held Friday at the El Reno Cemetery with Pastor Sharon Wilbur officiating. Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Ashleigh was born Aug. 13, 1993, in Baton Rouge, La., and moved to Pennsylvania when she was 3 months old. She attended schools in Pennsylvania and Texas. She was a certified nursing assistant who enjoyed spending time with her son and being with family.
