HARRAH – Returning three years later to the court where he logged his 200th career win during his first stint as head coach, El Reno High School’s Rodney Haydon opened up his second run as the Indians skipper in a big way.

The first tournament weekend of the season for Canadian County’s small school basketball programs netted three trophies including a title for the undefeated Calumet High School boys.

Canadian County Treasurer Carolyn Leck said because of COVID-19, her office is utilizing a lock-box payment system with the bank for mailed-in payments.  Leck said the program is “extremely efficient but does take a few more days for a check to clear the bank of origin.”

Sustained growth in Canadian County has spurred Canadian Valley Technology Center administration to develop new educational opportunities for prospective high school students and adults. Industrial Automation and Robotics Technology, or iART, is one of two new programs being added in fall 2021.

When Jessica Reed of El Reno graduated from high school in 2018, she knew she wanted to work with children. When she started working at the Canadian Valley Child Development Center, she heard about the Scholars for Excellence in Child Care Program offered at Redlands Community College.

LAWSUITS Heritage Resources LLC vs. Marathon Oil Company for an amount in excess of $75,000 for alleged damages. Chad McDowell vs. Progressive Northern Insurance Company for $40,000 for alleged compensatory damages.

Gary Lee Worthington (Kiowa name “Red Cloud”), 51, was born Jan. 27, 1969, in Okmulgee to M. Wayne Worthington and Francine (Doyebi) Worthington. Gary passed away Dec. 10, 2020, at Norman Regional Hospital. Gary graduated from El Reno High School with the class of 1988.

Services for Sharon Sue Palmer will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial to follow at the El Reno Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. Sharon died Dec. 11, 2020, in Oklahoma City.  

Celebration of life services for Andy Logan Snow were held Monday at First Baptist Church of Hinton with Rev. Keith Gillham officiating. Services were under the direction of Turner Funeral Home. Andy passed away Dec. 11, 2020, at his home in Yukon. He was born Oct. 25, 1964, in Weatherford.
