Blown by the wind

Body

Recent high winds damaged the wooden windmill at the Canadian County Historical Museum, but thanks to some El Reno ingenuity and a bucket truck, the 110-year-old power generator should be back in business hopefully by next spring.

Vicki Proctor, director of the museum, enlisted the help of Teddy Baker, Tom Lloyd, Ellis Pennick, Kendall Watson and Fred Koebrick to help rescue the bent and tangled blades.

Carefully, the windmill was lowered from its perch, about 25 feet above the ground.

Letter to the Editor: Mobile Meals thankful

Body

To The Editor:

On Monday, Sept. 28, as Christina Ramsey, the director of Mobile Meals, entered the kitchen to begin the preparation of 260 meals for 132 meal recipients, she discovered the big triple freezer had malfunctioned and close to $1,000 of frozen meat had spoiled.

There was no safe way to save the meat, so ground beef, whole turkeys, sausage, shredded pork, cubed chicken, etc., had to be trashed.
