Lankford speaks on upcoming election, COVID-19 vaccine

Body

U.S. Sen. James Lankford spoke last week in Canadian County on topics including the CARES Act, mail-in voting and a possible coronavirus vaccine.

There has not been a COVID-19 bill since April because there already has been $3 trillion put into the economy for pandemic relief, Lankford said.

Of the $3 trillion, $1 trillion has not yet been used.

“Typically, all appropriated spending for all of the government for a year is $1 trillion,” said Lankford.

“That doesn’t include things like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. That’s a separate amount.”

Zinnias are a bright, shining garden addition

Body

The darling zinnia, whose dutiful countenance is bound to bring garden cheer, survives even during a drought.

The bright and shining little zinnia originated in Mexico where it was once considered a weed.

There is record of the first seeds arriving in Europe around 1627, however, the zinnia remained in quiet obscurity until 1750 when the seeds called mal de ojos were sent by the European ambassador to Johann Gottfried Zinn.

The miracle of the U.S. Constitution

Body

Constitution Day, Sept. 17, the day Americans celebrate the signing of the Constitution which was then sent to the states for ratification, is almost here.

The numerous attacks on it, its founders, and the anarchy in our big cities today should give us cause to reflect upon what a gift it was/is to mankind.
