Memorial services for Herbert Atkins, former El Reno resident, are pending with Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Herbert died March 14, 2020, at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City. 

EHS’ girls season ends

ended recently with a 48-47 loss to Del City in the Class 5A, Area 2 Consolation Championship. Jennifer Douglas’ team closed the year with a 15-12 record and ranked eighth in the state.

boys basketball team exited the Class 5A playoffs with a 53-46 loss to Shawnee in the Area 2 Consolation Championship. The Indians were 13-14 on the year and ranked No.13 in the state.

Lake Carl Etling trout diverted to Guymon, Watonga

Trout stocking at Lake Carl Etling near Kenton in the far western Oklahoma Panhandle has been suspended because of low water levels. Instead, trout stockings originally scheduled during the next few weeks are being diverted to Guymon’s Sunset Lake and to Lake Watonga at Roman Nose State Park.

From left, Abigail Light, Haylee Romines, Kara Molas, Lori Merhib and Payton Germann are cracking coconuts to distribute to the entire Banner student body as part of a $15,000 federal grant awarded by the State of Oklahoma Department of Education to the Banner School Child Nutrition Program. This program encourages students to make healthy food choices and teaches them about nutritional value.
