ices Ser Members of the ervices Okarche High School speech team had a successful January, bringing home school awards from two tournaments. Three members competed in the Duncan Invitational Tournament, with Jacilyn Pannell named tournament champion in monologue, McKenzie Stewart as champion in standard oratory and Kylie Bailey earning the first-place medal in prose. In addition to all three winning their events, the students also amassed enough points to bring home the third-place sweepstakes plaque in Class 3A.

Vaping on the rise in El Reno schools

It was a common sight in virtually every high school across America. A teenager would hide behind a door during recess, go into a bathroom or walk a short distance from the school on lunch break to light up a cigarette.

Now, it’s the same story but in a different form — an electronic one.

At various El Reno schools, kids have been caught vaping on numerous occasions. Every so often, the devices even contain THC, the psychoactive compound of marijuana.
