Commissioners move forward with road projects

Canadian County commissioners moved forward at their weekly meeting Sept. 22 with planned road projects in their respective districts.

District 1 Commissioner Tom Manske is working with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) on preparations for a bridge project on Banner Road over Purcell Creek, just north of Highway 66.

Commissioners approved a project maintenance, financing and right-of-way agreement for new bridges and approaches.

Calm Waters hosts free grief training

OKLAHOMA CITY - On Oct. 10 at 9 a.m., Calm Waters will host a free grief training for mental health professionals, nonprofit organizations, educators and community members who seek to become better equipped to support grieving individuals in both professional and personal settings.

Graveside services for Dorothy Jane Justus of Minco were held Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Dorothy passed away Sept. 26, 2025, in Yukon. She was born May 8, 1929, in Walnut Grove and was raised in the Walnut Grove community. She later attended school at Western Heights in Oklahoma City.

She was employed in custodial services throughout her life.
